Prevent illegal sale of unregistered high-technology medical devices worth 150 mln rubles
Roszdravnadzor cooperates with prosecution authorities to prevent illegal sale of unregistered high-technology medical devices worth 150 mln rubles. Interagency cooperation between Roszdravnadzor and Samara Region’s prosecution authorities has been instrumental in preventing illegal sale of unregistered medical devices to regional hospitals.
An inspection carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Samara Region has revealed that Modern Medical Technologies LLC (OOO “Sovremennye Meditsinskye Tekhnologii”) supplied to two regional hospitals under a government contract some high-technology medical devices of dubious quality: two MRI scanners with accessories (Brivo MR355 worth 74,546,250 rubles and i_Open worth 38,415,000 rubles) to the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution N.I. Pirogov Samara Municipal Clinical Hospital No.1 and a Panda iRes infant warmer with accessories worth 37,443,384 rubles to the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution V.D. Seredavin Samara Regional Clinical Hospital.
Roszdravnadzor experts have been invited to test and evaluate the quality of these scanners and the infant warmer and have confirmed by documents that these devices are not registered in the territory of the Russian Federation and hence may not be used in treatment of patients.
In view of the above, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Samara Region has initiated three criminal cases under Part 1, Article 238.1 and Part 3, Article 30 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation against employees of Modern Medical Technologies LLC.
