As a result of joint actions by the Federal Service for Supervision in Healthcare and law enforcement agencies in the Orenburg region

As a result of control and supervisory measures the territorial body of the Federal Service for Supervision in Healthcare in the Orenburg region exposed the production of an unregistered medical device Emplastrum "Silver Bridges" in the city of Gai. Information on the illegal production was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Orenburg region to make a procedural decision.

In the course of operational work, two residents of Gai city, who for several years carried out the illegal production and sale of an unregistered medical device, were detained by employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Enforcement regional office. Emplastrum "Silver Bridges" was positioned in advertising as a universal remedy that helps remove the after-effects of plastic surgery procedures, scars, swelling, and can be used for fractures, sprains and other injuries.

Volumes of backyard production allowed the manufacture of up to 5 boxes of finished products per week, each of which contained 100 items of Emplastrum "Silver Bridges". The wholesale cost of 1 box was about 14 thousand roubles. The illegal products were sold to the constituent entities of the Russian Federation via the Internet.

The Investigative Department for the city of Novotroitsk Criminal Investigation Division for the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Orenburg region initiated a criminal case on the grounds of the crime, provided for by paragraph "a" of part 2 of Art. 238.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Circulation of counterfeit, substandard and unregistered medicines, medical devices and trafficking in counterfeit biologically active additives". The sanction of the Article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years with a fine totalling one to three million roubles or to the amount of the salary or other income of the convicted person for a period from one to three years or notwithstanding this with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to five years notwithstanding.
