Plastic surgery will have to comply with new requirements

In connection with the recent tragic events attributed to plastic surgery, the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation has amended the requirements for the provision of medical assistance in the field of “plastic surgery.”
On July 3, 2018, Order No. 298 N dated May 31, 2018 On Approval of the Procedure for the Provision of Medical Assistance in the Field of Plastic Surgery comes into effect.
The order outlines the new procedure for the provision of medical assistance in the field of plastic surgery and contains the amended rules for the provision of medical care to adults and children. The new rules apply to all types of care — outpatient, inpatient, as well as all other potential forms, including emergency, urgent, planned, primary, and specialised ones.
Amendments concern the following: organisation of the functioning of the physician’s (plastic surgeon’s) office, as well as the operation of the plastic surgery departments, the recommended staff standards, the standards for equipping rooms and plastic surgery departments.
All medical organisations carrying out medical activities in the field of plastic surgery need to familiarise themselves with Order No. 298 N dated May 31, 2018, which outlines the new requirements for the provision of medical care to adults and children.
